When installing ESXi on HPE servers, many administrators might be tempted to download the standard ISO directly from VMware. However, HPE strongly recommends using its custom image. HPE servers require the HPE Custom ESXi image or an ESXi image created with VMware's tools that includes appropriate device drivers to support the boot controller and network devices for a successful installation.
